Crosstown Arts presents the Iris Artist Fellow Duo, featuring Pedro Maia on violin and Gabriel Hightower on cello, in The Green Room. Doors at 7 pm | Performance at 7:30pm General Admission $10 | Student tickets $5 with student ID The Iris Artist Fellow Duo, featuring Pedro Maia on violin and Gabriel Hightower on cello, specialize in bringing an eclectic mix of music to the concert halls and beyond. Interweaving French avant-garde, Brazilian dances, and traditional classics, the sounds of the violin and cello are showcased in an unforgettable concert with something for everyone. Gabriel Hightower is a cellist from Columbia, Maryland, and the 2021/2022 Iris Artist Cello Fellow. He received his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park and completed his Master of Music Degree from Carnegie Mellon University. As an avid collaborator, Gabriel has performed with groups such as the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Prince George’s Philharmonic, Redline String Quartet, Kyle Simpson Jazz Collective, Darlingtonia, and more. These engagements have had him performing all over the East Coast. Brazilian violinist Pedro Maia is a versatile artist, passionate about chamber music and teaching. He is the 2021/2022 Iris Artist Violin Fellow. As a dynamic chamber musician, Pedro founded the ensembles Cosmos New Music and Trio Riva that both focus on studying and performing works written by composers of diverse backgrounds. Pedro holds doctoral and master's degree in performance from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of Southern Mississippi. Crosstown Arts is a contemporary arts organization dedicated to further cultivating the creative community in Memphis. We provide resources and create opportunities and experiences to inspire, support, and connect a diverse range of creative people, projects, and audiences. The spaces and programs we manage integrate varying components of exhibition, performance, production, education, and retail.  We welcome anyone in the community to join any of our events or projects, regardless of prior experience or expertise with creative interests.
