Here are the top stories today in Spokane: The mayor of Spokane plans to host a series of COVID funding discussions. Mayor Nadine Woodward and the City Council announced their plan to conduct a series of drop-in open houses to discuss ideas to use the latest round of federal relief funds. The funds will be primarily used to speed the community's pandemic recovery. Open houses will be held on Oct. 26 at North Central High School, Oct. 27 at Rogers High School, and Oct. 28 at Ferris High School. (KREM.com)It's been almost two months since students went back to in-person learning, but more than 700 Spokane students are sticking with remote learning. Spokane Public Schools is offering two different online learning options: synchronous and asynchronous. There are 15 dedicated staff members, including 12 teachers, for the online program. It gives students the attention they need, rather than having teachers switch between online learning and kids in class.
