PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Two people were killed on Interstate 95 Sunday morning after police said a driver led an officer on a chase in Prince William County. Virginia State Police said a man driving a Dodge Charger with a male passenger was clocked by a trooper going 72 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 495 at about 3:45 a.m. The trooper tried to pull the driver over, but he sped off and continued to Interstate 95 south. The driver took the Exit 160 ramp for Route 123 at a high rate of speed and lost control, veering off the right side of the road and crashing into a cement wall. The vehicle rode up the wall and hit the bottom of the overpass for the express lanes, catching fire. "Troopers ran to the Dodge and pulled the driver and passenger from the vehicle just before it became engulfed in flames," state police Public Relations Director Corinne N. Geller said in a statement. The driver and passenger died at the scene. This story will be updated. Check back for more.
