High: 48 Low: 33. Here are the top stories today in Reno: On Wednesday, the Reno City Council is scheduled to augment the city budget by $17 million. One component of the budget includes $137,500 for the purchase and repair of the Space Whale sculpture. It has also dedicated $1.5 million for 20 new firefighters and $4 million for a seismic retrofit of City Hall. (ThisisReno) On Friday, crews responded to a fatal crash on SR-341 on Geiger Grade Road. The crash was reported at around 5:41 pm. This story is still developing. (KTVN) Two police detectives shot at a suspect who was killed near US-395 after he fled officers at a high speed and crashed into an unmarked police unit just north of Reno. (Reno Gazette-Journal) On Friday, the Washoe County School District Police investigated a gun found in a secured locker at Reno High School and have identified the student who apparently brought it in.
