The initiative by Penn Medicine adds to the University of Pennsylvania's commitment to eliminate disparities in cancer detection, care, and outcomes among low-income patients and communities of color. Staff provided individual 10-minute screenings, a private changing room, and Spanish translation services. (WHYY)The Philadelphia City Council announced it will hold hearings on SEPTA security procedures. This move comes after a series of attacks on riders, including the rape of a woman last week and several assaults. Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr. said he expected the city council hearing will be expedited; SEPTA said it looks forward to speaking with members about its challenges. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)Late community activist Reverend Paul Moore, known by his nickname "Earthquake," is now a permanent fixture of Southwest Philadelphia. On Saturday, 70th and Woodward Streets were officially renamed after the former boxer turned minister. The 62-year-old man was known for mentoring children, helping those less fortunate, and standing up against violence. (CBS Philly)A man is in critical condition after being shot twice in Southwest Philadelphia. The incident happened at approximately 4:07 a.m. on the 6800 block of Essington Avenue. The 22-year-old victim was shot in the chin and lips, then rushed to Presbyterian Hospital. No arrests have been made, nor have any weapons been recovered, at this time. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)Mail ballot drop boxes are open for the 2021 general election in Philadelphia. Alternately, residents can drop off their ballots at one of the City Commissioners' pop-up events. This marks the second year with no-excuse mail voting in Pennsylvania. Oct. 18 marked the deadline to register to vote in the state's general election.
