Rufus is cute, 6 years old, affectionate, easy to have around, and weighs about 50 pounds. He likes being with people, is not very demanding, and has not been destructive when left alone. This perceptive pit bull mix is perceptive, smart, wants to please, and I am currently fostering him to give him a break from the Animal Shelter. Because he's still learning not to jump up when he first meets a new person and can get overly excited when playing, a home without young children would be best for him at this stage in his life. He enjoys going on walks, does well on a leash, is calm in the car, and likes investigating new places. Based on his behavior during walks in the neighborhood, he is likely to chase cats, chickens, or livestock, so he may never be trustworthy off leash outside of his yard. He is housetrained, uses a dog door, has never tried to get out of the yard, and comes when called. He was originally adopted from the Animal Shelter more than 2 years ago, but was recently returned after his owner moved into a new neighborhood. Unfortunately, Rufus couldn't relax with neighbor dogs on the other side of the fence, which made him uncomfortable and anxious. Although Rufus likes playing with other dogs, his energetic play style can be too enthusiastic and overly rough for some dogs. Therefore, he would probably do best as the only dog in the home and would make a great companion for an owner who is around most of the time.
