Description

Unfortunately we are needing to rehome our 1 year old Black Capped Conure. Gender unknown though we refer to it as her. Bird is hand tame and wants to be near you at all times. Enjoys cuddling. Very clown like mannerisms and is not an overly loud. Does good with myself, my husband, and often follows around and plays with our 5 year old son. However she has recently began to attack my 8 year old daughter. My daughter will just be walking by and the bird will fly at her grab on to her hair or shirt and be trying to bite her. We have had her since she was 8 weeks old and this behavior only begun a little over a month ago. She used to let my daughter hold her and play with her and sometimes she'll still let my daughter come over and pet her, but the attacks have become random and frequent. Sometimes we think maybe it's because she walked too close to her cage, or because she has food the bird wants, but sometimes we just have no idea why she could've felt the need to chase her down when she just walks in the room. Regardless of the potential reasons, it's just become so upsetting for my daughter and she has suffered so many bites on her back and neck there's no way she will ever be comfortable around this bird. The bird also tries to sneak up and bite our 6 month old baby but that is more curiosity I think than aggression. Anyways we are on high alert any time she is out of her cage and since she is used to spending basically the whole day out, it doesn't feel right to be locking her up now anytime my daughter is home. I love this bird but cannot continue making excuses for her and have to accept that we are not the right family for her. We have a good sized cage, new bag of food, and some treats that will all be included. Rehoming fee of $350 for everything. She has been around another bird and I think she would enjoy a home with other birds. Serious inquires only. If post is up, she is still available. I am looking for someone who will ask questions about her and has experience with birds and I will have questions for you to ensure she finds the best home. Texting preferred, emails may not be viewed or answered right away. I'll only be responding to folks that clearly read this whole post. Phone# 9one3-636-four79five
