Description

In the last year I moved here from another city where I was going to weekly bluegrass jams and had a lot of options for picking. I've also played many shows with bluegrass and other bands, and have the gear needed to play acoustic gigs. Is there any sort of bluegrass 'scene' in Kansas City? Where do you guys pick? Should I travel to Lawrence for this? I'm playing 6-string guitar now but also have experience playing 5-string banjo and upright bass. Also singing harmonies. Am looking for anyone else that is pretty good at playing bluegrass to meet and jam with. Do you like to play standards on fiddle, mandolin, 5-string or guitar? It seems to me like even a trio could get small gigs around here, busk the farmers market, jam in the park blocks when the weather is nice. Maybe get something ready for the Spring? Age-wise I'm in my 40s, have a full-time job, live in an apartment. For more specifics on material anything from Two Dollar Bill to old Yonder Mnt. songs, Billy Strings, Greensky, Stanley Brothers, Shady Grove album. Can anyone please give me a clue about where to go in Kansas City for bluegrass? Thank you!
