Description

The Girl Power Speaker Series is a forum for women to share challenges and triumphs along their career path with young women and girls. There are a few things in life that I know to be absolute –  * The power of women gathering is magical. * Young women are craving guidance on their career and life path.  * Girls need to see women in a variety of roles in order to dream big. * The change we can make in the world when we empower women is limitless.  That's why the Girl Power Speaker Series was created! This speaker series features successful women in a variety of industries. We’ll gather to hear a short presentation from our speaker and then have an inspiring leadership activity. These events are focused on middle and high school aged girls, but we welcome all ages as well as parents and guardians to attend. Dates: Saturdays, October 9, 16, & 23, and November 6 and 13, 2021 Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Location: The Studio Boulder, 3550 Frontier Ave., #A2, Boulder, CO 80301 SPEAKERS FOR OCTOBER 23: JILLIAN ALTMAN AND HILLARY RILEY Do you want to learn more about the fashion industry and how to develop your own sense of style? Founded by sisters Jillian Glenn Altman and Hillary Glenn Riley, GLENN + GLENN launched quietly in 2019 with a capsule collection of warm weather essentials. Combining their love for art, architecture, fashion, photography and all things sustainable, the Glenn sisters tested their skill sets in apparel design and entrepreneurship to create a ready-to-wear fashion brand that promotes slow-fashion, small batch production and awareness for curating one’s wardrobe. Hillary launched her career at Diane von Furstenberg in New York City and subsequently transitioned into knitwear design. She returned to Colorado to design for major players in the lifestyle and performance industry. Hillary studied business and design, earning a BA in Apparel Design with a Minor in Business from Colorado State University as well as additional certifications in specialty apparel design from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Jillian’s background as a contract designer in corporate branding, art direction and photography has kept her close to the entrepreneurship atmosphere. She created a portfolio of clients over the course of 15 years across many industries and has contributed to various community non-profit projects in Boulder. Jillian completed her education at the University of Colorado with a BA in Fine Arts, a BS in Marketing and Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the Leeds School of Business. Attend all 3 Saturdays or drop in for one or two! Free to attend, but please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
