Lynchburg pianist Isaac Williams brings his quartet to Amherst Java & Jazz . Program features jazz vocalist Senobia Smith. Isaac Williams, one of Virginia's rising young stars on Jazz piano, A native of Lynchburg, He got his start in music at the age 8, snd began playing at his church by age 11. In 2019, Isaac debuted his Trinity Jazz Trio to a packed house at the Holy Trinity LutheranChurch in Lynchburg, Va. Since, Isaac's trio has played at venues such as TheFlat 9 Club, Stonebridge Fall Festival, and District Winery in Washington D.C. Isaac has played as a sideman to saxophonist Joseph Henson in Amherst Java and Jazz. In the past year, Isaac has been cultivating the Isaac Williams Quartet alongside the immensely talented Senobia Smith, former U.S. Army vocalist. Their quartet embraces sounds from Ella Fitzgerald to Etta James, and even current artists such as Daniel Caesar. Isaac is pleased to be performing at SSA with Senobia in the quartet, playing selections from Nina Simone, Chick Corea, and. Consuelolo Velasquez. Senobia Smith has performed all over the world, as far East as Italy, South as the Caribbean, North as Alaska, and West as California. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Senobia studied music at prestigious Shenandoah University MusicConservatory. She has her own trio, Senobia & Friends. She also performs asa solo artist, with jazz orchestras, big bands, jazz combos, and concert bands, both as a U.S. Army musician and as a civilian. For Amherst Java & Jazz she performs for the first time in Amherst with the Isaac Williams Quartet.
