Celebrate the end of the Journey Chicago festival and the opening of our new space! The Bronzeville Historical Society, Chicago Cultural Alliance and We Will Chicago invite you to an open-house style press event to celebrate the grand opening of Bronzeville Historical Society's new permanent home in the historic Parkway Ballroom building. From 12pm-1pm members of the press are invited to view the new facility, experience the innovative exhibit "ReIMAGINE Aunt Jemima," and chat with representatives from the Bronzeville Historical Society and the Chicago Cultural Alliance to talk about their trailblazing cultural work. From 1pm-2pm the space will be open to the public, and guests can enjoy Afro-Caribbean vinyls spinning, light beverages and snacks. Check out the exhibit of photos, documents and memorabilia curated by community members and Chicago Public Library which honors Nancy Green and all the women who portrayed the iconic Aunt Jemima brand across the years, and learn more about the programs and work of the Bronzeville Historical Society. Stick around at 2pm for a special screening of "The Black Theater: The Making of a Movement," presented in partnership with South Side Projections. A discussion led by Maséqua Myers, longtime theater and film producer and former director of the South Side Community Art Center.
