We don't use our fireplace chimney, and it has just been sitting unused with a balloon barrier above the damper. However, it clearly sounds like a squirrel has somehow gotten in there. We would like to hire someone to place a piece of wire mesh, or something similar, up at the top of the chimney, so that nobody can get in. Then we would like you to remove the critter from, who I assume will probably be deceased by the time you read this, from his final resting place above the damper. You'll need a long ladder. I think the chimney is 32' high, or somewhere in that neighborhood.
