Description
Immerse yourself in a stream of fluid art, movement, poetry, music and sensory ceremony all designed to make your chalice runneth over. "Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it." Water; Life-giver, source of energy. Our bodies ripple and flow in reflection of water’s cosmic design, the human body itself a great river, form and function dependent on the ebb and flow, life borne in and out on the tide. As above, so below. Today, water suffers. Devalued, depreciated, and defiled by the modern world she suffers, and yet, she persists. Cleansing and flowing, Cyclical and sacred, she remembers. An essential element. Come together with us as a tribe To celebrate the waters, ancient and strong, To explore the nature of water as she appears in our lives, To create experience, that we may invigorate the sacred elemental kinship of molecule and mxn. Liquid Lucidity: An event dedicated to the multi-sensory celebration of water. A space for creation, a pool for reflection, and a spring of renewal. A simmering activation of all six senses through which we are sanctified. At this event, the senses lead: PLUNGE into an oasis of babbling brooks and liquid musings with Leslie Robin as she stirs and stimulates soupy sifts in the bubbling cauldron. IMBIBE botanical beverages formulated to elevate, hydrate, and cleanse your emotional, physical, and intuitive gateways. Dive deep inside for an imaginative exploration. ENGULF your earthly vessel in paint and revel in your gooey glow, or strike up a conversation with a local artist in the wisdom of their vivid flow. YOU are art! LIBERATE your lymphatic system with Chloe Bee and Omar Sugar, who will have you tipping like a tea pot by the end of their liquid-movement contemporary dance flow. VOYAGE to quantum healing as E Alo’s, Manifest Sound’s, and Attix’s electric and acoustic undulations ring balance through every cell. Gaze through the spew of cool blues and let their penetrating moods wash away fright. TANTALIZE your tastebuds with a spirited array of festive foods crafted from wholesome, local ingredients. SAIL through the murky waters of the mind with healing grace and emerge renewed… …and more! Our goddess’s reflection we trace as the night’s cover grows thick, connecting deep within a well of ancient wisdom. Waving in lost aspects of our sacred twin and refreshing our reservoirs by sharing subconscious realities and enlivening ceremonies, Liquid Lucidity is just such a ceremony. An opportunity to spring forth new ideas and solutions for our current paradigm. Unmask the lies and reflect the skies, clouded in sapphire, turquoise, and aquamarine sheen. The shock of thunder pulls you out from under. The permeating nature of the shadow has revealed itself; all in good health. Sublime simplicity and freedom is our birthright. Take the wheel, make things right. Keeping it real to keep keeping it real, We become a tonic of aquaponics and create more fluid grooves. The smell of psychic aromas signal to our senses: receive. We are rippling with opportunity. Live Celestial: a community. Date: Friday, October 29th, 2021Time: 6PM-11PMLocation: Live Celestial @ 420 W. From spinal undulations and poly-rhythmic orientations, we will flow through a juicy warm up and then some upright exercises for engaging the imagination, some across the floor expansive sequences, and a movement combination that is designed to feel hip-opening and lymph-moving. Inviting the element of water into our every muse and move, you will most likely leave here feeling Ooey Gooeey strong and delicious. Mobility in the hips, spine and shoulders is how water wants to show up for us in this all-levels, all-bodies contemporary dance experience. For practitioners of movement or contact improv some of these imagery-blossomed exercises may seem foundational, so I invite you to conceptualize that contemporary dance is an art form and a method of storytelling where technical training enhances the detail and the vocabulary. So speak with your body, imagine water flowing around you and through you, and remember that water comes in many forms like raging rivers through canyons, barreling waves, gentle and strong river bends, deep and still lakes, trickling faucets, monsoons, and waterfalls. I am aware and appreciate the fact that contemporary dance takes courage to explore and experiment beyond the linear constructs of some forms of movement or fitness. Please do what feels good in your body, there is no need to mimic exactly what I do nor push yourself into pain or discomfort. What is contemporary dance? This ambiguously named style of dance that draws from jazz, lyrical and classical ballet, is a movement practice that pushes boundaries and explores creative freedom. Through engaging imagery, strengthening technical exercises, intricate gestures, intentional stillness, and deepening relations to gravity, we fill the space with floor work, across-the-floor work, and choreographic combinations in a supportive environment. *Liquid Movement Dance Workshop has limited occupancy.
