When an act of violence resulting in mass casualties occurs in your community, your medical infrastructure can easily become overwhelmed. Statistics show that approximately 60% of injured parties from active shooters and acts of terrorism are transported to hospitals via makeshift ambulances with little to no treatment. When this occurs, patients will initially trickle in; however, soon after this, there will be a large influx of patients arriving at your facility with little or no notice.
The ED Response to a No Notice Mass Casualty Event course focuses on educating Emergency Department staff how to triage and treat an overwhelming number of patients in a short period of time.
