Music programming at the University of Southern Indiana got a big boost from a well known donor.
At a concert featuring the music of Mt. Vernon native Philip Hagemann, USI announced that the award-winning composer is donating two million dollars to help expand the music program at USI.
According to a release, the newly-established Philip H. Hagemann Music Program Fund will bolster the current music ensembles and classes while supporting the long-range vision of a full degree program in music at USI.
Born and raised in Mount Vernon, Hagemann is an accomplished musician, teacher, producer and award-winning composer of two full-length operas, ten one-act chamber operas and seventy five choral works.
A multi-million dollar gift to a University of Evansville nursing scholarship program will increase financial aid possibilities to prospective nurses.
