Columbus Gives Back invites you to join us for "Fry Out Cancer", giving cancer the bird since 2014! Columbus Gives Back invites you to join us for our first ever event with Fry Out Cancer, giving cancer the bird since 2014! On Thanksgiving, we will help fry turkeys to raise money for The James. Supporter will donate money in exchange for a turkey. Donors are also encouraged to sponsor a turkey that will go to a family in need.In 2021, Fry Out Cancer will be sending turkeys to the following organizations that feed families in need on Thanksgiving: iResolve Family Fitness, the YWCA Family Center, Community Shelter Board, New Albany Food Pantry, Hilltop Community Worship Center, Catholic Social Services, The Food Soldier, Star House, LSS Choices, Kaleidoscope Youth Center, Community Development for All People, and Faith Mission. Since 2014, this event has raised more than $113,000 for The James and donated several hundred turkeys to help feed families in need. What: Turkey Wrappers: Remove turkeys from frying racks and places turkeys into foil pans; Wrap and labels all fried turkeys; Monitor pickup list; Assist with loading wrapped turkeys into vehicles.Outdoor Runners: Brings raw turkeys from prep area to fryers; Brings fried turkeys from fryers to wrapping area.Outdoor Prep Assistants: Helps with general cleaning, prep and cooking tasks.When:  Thursday, November 25, 10:30am - 3:00pm Where: Temple Beth Shalom, 5089 Johnstown Rd. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. About the Fry Out Cancer: Fry Out Cancer is an opportunity to support The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). Supporters place their order for a fully prepared fried turkey and select a time to pick it up on Thanksgiving Day at Columbus State Community College. Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers.
