Description

Blending the ancient techniques of yoga nidra/"yogic sleep" & herbal medicine to support deep, intentional rest of mind, body & spirit. Yoga Nidra is a practice that has been alive for centuries & has recently gained a lot of scientific credibility as an effective way to reduce stress, improve sleep, aid in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. & create an overall sense of well-being. By simply laying in a single comfortable position & following the voice of the guided meditation (lead by the instructor), one is able to switch brain wave function from a state of over-active beta & gamma waves, to restful alpha waves. This allows the brain to not only find deep rest, but has been proven to lower cortisol & adrenal levels, improving immune functioning & preventing burn-out. While yoga nidra translates to "yogic sleep", the difference between this state and actual sleep is that the mind is awake throughout the whole practice. We will be inducing a state of rest, while remaining conscious as we gently guide our awareness through the felt senses. To complement & strengthen the benefits of this practice, we will begin the evening's journey by sharing an herbal tea blend made specifically for supporting a calm & grounded inward journey. Some of the benefits that have been mentioned from previous students of Tiffany's yoga nidra classes include: - Greater patience and compassion when care-taking family, especially toddler children. - Ease & release of physical pain/tension in the body. - More grounded & centered throughout work day. - "Oddly able to relax during a week day."
