Please note: Once purchased, your ticket is non-refundable. Guest Speaker: We are pleased to welcome Samalid Hogan as the speaker for our October luncheon. Please check out her bio below! Ms. Samalid Hogan currently serves as Regional Director for the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center (MSBDC) Network Western Regional Office. Ms. Hogan has 17 years of experience in Economic Development and has served in key roles building partnerships across public, private, and civic sectors to achieve economic development goals for the Pioneer Valley region in Western Massachusetts. Over the past 6 years, Ms. Hogan has been directly involved in fostering the local ecosystem comprised of stakeholders committed to supporting entrepreneurs and new business ventures. She has been a mentor for local accelerator programs including Valley Venture Mentors and eForAll. Ms. Hogan is also a co-founder of the Western Mass Means Business collaboration, an alliance of small business technical assistance providers. In 2014, while working at the city of Springfield, Ms. Hogan founded CoWork Springfield, the first formal co-working space established in Springfield, Massachusetts. CoWork Springfield founded to focus on serving women and minority-owned businesses. Ms. Hogan is committed to serving her community and serves on several boards of directors including the Governor’s Latino Advisory Commission for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Board of Trustees of Springfield Technical Community College, and as Vice President of the Springfield Rotary Club. She is also a Board Member of Common Capital Inc, a Community Development Financing Institution (CDFI) serving Hampden and Hampshire counties. In 2018, Ms. Hogan was profiled in the book “The Power of Women”, authored and edited by Wayne E. Phaneuf, executive editor of The Republican, and historian Joseph Carvalho III. The book highlighted influential women from the 1600s until present day. Ms. Hogan was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1996. She resides in Ludlow, Massachusetts with her husband Robert Hogan and their daughter, Sophia Hogan. AWARDS In 2018, Ms. Hogan received the Business West Continued Excellence Award. She had previously been awarded the “40 Under 40” Business West award in 2013, for her leadership and accomplishments. Further, she was a 2016 award recipient of the Harold Grinspoon Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and was recognized by the Massachusetts Latino Chamber of Commerce as a Women Trailblazer and Trendsetter. COMMUNITY SERVICE Ms. Hogan was a founding member of the National Junior Tennis and Learning of Greater Springfield (also known as Moving on Up with Tennis and Education Inc.) and served as Vice President of the organization. She also served in the Board of Dress for Success of Western Massachusetts and as Trustee and Treasurer for the New England Public Radio Foundation. Ms. Hogan was also a Board Member and served as Treasurer of the Young Professional Society of Greater Springfield and served as President of the Horace Smith Fund. She also served as Board Member and Secretary for the Girls Scouts of Western Massachusetts. EDUCATION Ms. Hogan attended Springfield High School of Science and Technology and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Innovative Practices from Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts.
