Description

We are partnering with our neighbor Hammerling Wines and Singaporean food truck Satay by the Bay on Friday, October 29 Friday, October 29 we are thrilled to partner with Hammerling Winery and offer our wines with a pop-up from Satay by the Bay. We are near positive our Ramato Pinot Gris will shine with their Singaporean Street Food! But don't take our word for it, join us and taste for yourself! About Donkey & Goat Winery: Donkey & Goat was founded in 2004 on ecological principles driving decisions in both the vineyard and the cellar which was quite a few years before the term Natural Wine was coined in America! Known for being pioneers and one of the first to list ingredients on the label, our wines are handcrafted at our Berkeley winery from organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Sierra Nevada, Mendocino County, and Napa Valley. We follow the same ethos in making the wines resulting in a wine that are vibrant and alive and best enjoyed around a table full of food and circled with family and friends. About Hammerling Wines: Hammerling Wines was founded in 2018. The goal of the project is to explore cool-climate California vineyards along the coast through the lens of low-intervention sparkling wine. Our winemaker and founder, Josh Hammerling, started working in cellars, vineyards, and tasting rooms in Washington State in 2014. Many low-intervention experiments in friends’ garages led to a fascination with classic and experimental expressions of sparkling wine. In 2017 he moved to Berkeley to work for Broc Cellars and Donkey and Goat while he got his project off the ground. He settled on Berkeley for his winery to take advantage of its proximity to the Central Coast to the south and Mendocino to the north. It’s the ideal location for sourcing fruit from distinctive, responsibly farmed vineyards. About Satay By The Bay: Satay By The Bay SF is a catering/food truck business formed by Elly Suraya Greenfield and her husband David (aka DJ Sid Presley). Elly was born and raised in Singapore, where she assisted her mother in preparing traditional Singaporean Malay meals for parties and family gatherings (she has a very big family). Nothing is being reinvented here. It’s pure old-world charm, just as you’d find in the best of Singapore’s hawker centres, or in your traditional Singaporean Malay home. Donkey & Goat Winery is owned and operated by Jared & Tracey Brandt in Berkeley, California. We make “natural wines” which is a term that covers both the vineyard and the cellar. That is what distinguishes natural wine– the extension of natural farming philosophies that drive the practices for sustainable, organic & biodynamic farming into the cellar. Our wines are made from sustainably (or more) farmed vineyards in the Sierra Nevada, Mendocino and Napa. In the cellar nothing is removed and nothing is added save minimal effective sulphur. Sulphur is a contentious issue in the natural wine world. We have made wines with zero sulphur added but in general we do use minimum effective sulphur. Or we use as little as possible and our levels going into bottle fall within the predominant guideline for natural wines in Europe. Our wines are bottled without stabilization, fining or filtration. While not required, we include our ingredient list on our label which is remarkably short: grapes and minimal sulphur. We have made our wines in this manner since we created Donkey & Goat in 2004 and will continue to do so until we stop.
