Description

Celebrating the past, present, and future of the historic Eldorado Ballroom as Project Row Houses is set to revitalize the iconic building. October 29th we will gather in the parking lot of the Eldorado Ballroom for a casually elegant night of music, drinks, and fun. Dancing music curated to celebrate the golden era of Eldorado by Dj Elevated of Soul Control will be accompanied by cocktails, wine, and food courtesy of Lucille's 1913. While we dance, eat, and mingle there will be projections on the side of the building that bring us from the grand past to the even grander future of the landmark. Opened in 1939 by Anna Johnson Dupree and Clarence Dupree, the Eldorado Ballroom stands at the cultural and economic crossroads of Houston's Third Ward--the corner of Elgin Street and Emancipation Avenue. A storied music venue and community touchstone, the building is undergoing a historic rehabilitation, both to preserve the past and to build on Project Row Houses's commitment to the future of the neighborhood. Howling on Dowling is a song by Conrad O. Johnson that references Eldorado Ballroom during it's golden era. In the name of the upcoming holidays costumes are welcome but not mandatory. EVENT IS 21+
