Members-only premiere of our four short education compost videos. After the viewing, we will have a panel discussion to explore avenues to reach NYC residents in order to increase participation in composting, identify obstacles, and grow green career opportunities. Our panelists will include: Chris Marte, City Council Candidate, District 1 Shahana Hanif, City Council Candidate, District 39 Sandy Nurse, City Council Candidate, District 37 and founder of BK Rot Marcel Kernizan, Harbor School student Robert Markuske, New York Harbor School Sustainability Coordinator Andrea Lieske, Resource Recovery Coordinator at Earth Matter NY Seating is limited to 70 for the in-person video screening—first come, first served. Earth Matter NY seeks to reduce the organic waste misdirected into the garbage stream by encouraging neighbor participation and leadership in composting. The Lavender Field project extends Earth Matter’s overall mission to promote community based composting -- how to make make it, how to use it, and how composting fits into the loop between table and farm.
