disabled vet looking for smaller dog for SD

I am a service connected disabled vet. I am looking for a smaller ( 15-25 lb) dog around 1 year old or so. the dog will be trained to alert me to phone ringing and door knocks, as well as waking me from nightmares associated with my service. I need the smaller size because for the last task it will have to sleep on my hospital bed with me. I can scrape up a small rehoming fee ( closer to the first of the month is better, because that is when I get my pension) the dog will be very well cared for, and receive a LOT of attention daily, I am just not able to make a huge up front outlay that shelters and such ask for.
