Learn how trauma affects the development of today's youth and how a unique yoga practice can help develop better coping skills through life. Help support a unique & impactful community resource while learning a new tools to help aid in mental and physical wellness. Youth and young adult populations that have experienced trauma in forms such as (but not limited too) domestic violence, homelessness, abandonment, addiction, incarceration, and loss, may find themselves at a point in their journey where coping, surviving, growth, and understanding their thoughts and actions are at high stake. What is required is greater tools to cope with everyday stressors and take control of their mental health through a body and mind connection. Northern Nevada's non-profit organization, Urban Lotus Project, does exactly that. We offer the communities under served youth population affected by these themes meditative tools and yoga practices so that they can begin to find calm and greater copy skills to help over come life's challenges. Having served over 22,000 students since 2015, ULP continues to expand our reach into rehabilitation facilities, public schools, detention centers, and youth homes. And with the positive response and impact that we continue to receive from our students and the community, we will not stop there. Join Admin Director, Nichole Schembre and be guided through Urban Lotus Project's tailored Lotus Method trauma-informed yoga class that is taught to over 2,000 students annually. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Attendees will learn: - Difference in speech from a 'standard' Western yoga class VS a trauma-informed class. - A yoga experience that keeps your nervous system balance and neither in too high or too low of a state of being. - Mental benefits of a trauma-informed yoga practice - How to create space to explore your body without judgement or pressure.
