Description

Which RI tree species are the most notable, and what makes them so special? Learn about their impact on RI's culture, economy and ecology. Rhode Island's landscape is dotted with over 220 species of trees. Many are native, some notable and a few even rare. But which among them have been the most influential, making contributions so significant that their impact on the local culture, economy, and yes, forest ecology will be felt for generations to come? According to the RI Tree Council, there are only a handful of species that qualify. They are the Eastern White Pine, Red Oak, European Beech and the American Elm. In this lecture John Campanini of the RI Tree Council will explain what makes these trees so special. By the end, we believe you will agree that they are truly deserving of their lofty status as Rhode Island's all-time sylvan game changers.
