A fun day with a focus on Black and Brown businesses, musical, Holistic Health, Plant Based foods, Naturopathic medicine & Natural Birth. What is Melanin Moms Natural Expo? Did you know that black women have some of the lowest breastfeeding rates among races? Did you know black women have TWO to THREE TIMES the infant death mortality rates as our white counterparts? Black men* have a 70% higher risk and Black women have a 50% greater risk of developing heart failure than White men and women.*Between the ages of 45 and 64. Yet most events catering to Melanated communities are filled with foods and habits that fuel these statistics. LET'S CHANGE THIS NARRATIVE. As a woman of color, I see a disparity in bringing plant based eating and natural living to families and mothers of color and thus wanted to fill that much needed space. Our mission of Melanin Moms Natural Expo is to bring plant based, healthy eating, natural and organic living to the Melanated (Black) community. This event also helps circulate money in our community by highlighting local Melanated entrepreneurs. We are exposing our community to the benefits of breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, and natural medicine actively working to address the health and birth statistics in our community. This is an all inclusive event; everyone is welcome. Let's EDUCATE, MOTIVATE AND INSPIRE each other for a better chance at LIFE and PLANET.
