PARRISH, FL — More than a month after a 30-year-old woman was shot and killed in her Parrish home, manslaughter charges have been filed against a man she lived with.
In addition to facing a manslaughter with a firearm charge, Blake Meadows, 33, has also been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. He was arrested Thursday afternoon.
Detectives say that Meadows "acted carelessly when handling a handgun that discharged" and struck the woman in the neck Sept. 13, according to the sheriff's office.
He told investigators that the shooting, which happened at their home in the 4200 block of Cottage Hill Avenue, was accidental.
The victim's name and relationship to Meadows is being withheld due to Marsy's Law.
