A lecture by Prof. Sarah Byers Florida State University The Thomistic Institute at Florida State University presents a lecture by Prof. Sarah Beyers of Boston College titled Human Freedom and Divine Grace. Student Services Building, Room 218 Friday, Nov. 19 4:00 PM This lecture is free and open to the public. About the speaker: Sarah Byers is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Boston College. She received a masters and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and her interests include St. Augustine, Hellenistic philosophy, and the history of ancient and medieval ethics and metaphysics. She is responsible for many publications, including Perception, Sensibility, and Moral Motivation in Augustine: A Stoic-Platonic Synthesis, a book that argues that Augustine assimilated the Stoic theory of perception into his philosophy. The Thomistic Institute exists to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone.  The TI is an academic institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.   You can find all of the Thomistic Institute lecture recordings on https://soundcloud.com/thomisticinstitute or through the Apple Podcast by searching "Thomsitic Institute."
