NY Woman Charged With Stealing Checks In Waterford: Police

WATERFORD, CT — A New York woman has been charged by Waterford police with stealing mailed checks and depositing them into her bank account, according to a police statement. Sergelyn Richemond, 20, of Flushing, was charged with third-degree larceny. The investigation began in October 2020 into a complaint of stolen mail that contained personal checks that had been illegally deposited into an unauthorized bank account. The New London State's Attorney Office issued an extraditable arrest warrant and Richemond was arrested by members of the New York Postal Inspectors Office and the NYPD. She was transported to the Waterford Police Department and charged. She was later released on a $20,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 24 in New London.
