BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline police have identified and arrested the man who is accused of following a woman home Tuesday evening and attempting to break into her home. Miguel Angel Martinez, 48, of Boston, was taken into custody Thursday morning after breaking into a home at 7 Lawrence Road and later being positively identified by a witness, said police. Police say they received a call for the breaking and entering on Lawrence Rd. around 9:37 a.m. A witness reported that he saw a man in his backyard who was unfamiliar to him. The man, later identified as Martinez, allegedly walked over to the closed garage door, turned the handle, opened the door, and entered the garage. When confronted by the witness, he left the area. After receiving a description from the witness, police located Martinez at the intersection of Lawrence Road and Sterns Road. Amidst the investigation, officers realized that he strongly resembled the suspect who followed a woman to her Chatham Street home earlier this week. Martinez is facing one count of Breaking and Entering with the Intent to Commit a Felony and one count of attempted Breaking and Entering with the Intent to Commit a Felony. At the time of these incidents, police say Martinez was out on bail and has several open cases out of Boston Municipal Court. His bail has been revoked and he remains in custody. No further information is available at this time.
