BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree's newest conservation commission member is an official with the National Park Service.
The Town Council voted unanimously to approve Mayor Charles Kokoros' appointment of Giles Parker to the commission on Tuesday night.
Parker is the director of the Park Service's New England Museum Services Center in Charlestown. Before serving the museum, he was the superintendent of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.
Town Councilor At-Large David Ringius said Parker's resume was one of the most extensive he's ever seen for a committee appointment. Town Council President Shannon Hume, who went to school with Parker, said she can't think of anybody more suited for the position.
"His resume speaks for itself," Hume said. "He's more than qualified, and I'm grateful for his willingness to step up."
The town council also confirmed Kokoros' appointment of Jennifer Connolly as an alternate on the planning board. Connolly's background includes two decades of experience working in real estate and construction.
