Here are the top stories in Roanoke today: The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth will award the Roanoke Catholic School a little more than $110,000 over the next three years. With this money, the school is implementing a curriculum to help kids make the right decisions by purchasing technology that will help them monitor that students are doing so. The device, known as Halo, can detect contraband from vaping to bullying. School officials insist that the device isn't listening in on conversations, but say it is intelligent enough to identify certain phrases, sounds, and even signs of aggression. (WDBJ7) The Roanoke County Economic Development team and the Virginia Tech Center for Economic and Community Engagement team have been working together since January on an economic plan to make improvements to Roanoke County. This past Thursday night, a public meeting was held for the county to present the first draft of the "Elevate Roanoke County 2026 Strategic Plan." The draft comes after months of work and survey responses from hundreds of Roanoke County residents. (WDBJ7) Jerusalem Baptist Church, Morning Star Baptist Church, Greater Life Ministries, and P3 Ministries will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Hurt Park Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. (Roanoke Times) Roanoke County debuted the newly renovated pickleball courts at Stonebridge Park Thursday.
