Why do you oppose the truth about the racial history of the United States being taught in the classroom? The US has an abhorrent racial history, and it is a very important chapter in our history. Trying to sweep it under the rug is dishonest, and inauthentic. Acknowledging the past, and taking ownership of it is what adults do. If you are white, you may protest that you were not alive back then, so it doesn't matter. That is a disingenuous attitude, because you benefit today from injustices of the past. The only way that old wounds can heal, is for them to be exposed to the light of day.
