GREENWICH, CT — A 66-year-old Greenwich man is accused of taking photographs underneath the skirt of an unsuspecting female passenger while traveling on the Metro-North Railroad, according to a news release from the Westchester County, N.Y. District Attorney.
Majid Hedayati, of Riverside, appeared in Harrison, N.Y. town court on Oct. 19, DA Miriam E. Rocah said in a news release Thursday. Hedayati was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance, which is a felony.
According to charging documents, Hedayati was traveling on the Metro-North Railroad from Grand Central Terminal to Stamford on Sept. 23 when he sat down across from a woman wearing a skirt. He then used his cellphone to take photos underneath the woman's skirt, attempting to capture images of her genital area, the documents stated.
The victim's friend, who was sitting directly next to her, saw Hedayati taking the photos, confronted him and reported him to a conductor, Rocah said in a news release.
Following an investigation, Rocah said Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police detained Hedayati at Grand Central on Oct. 13.
Hedayati is scheduled to appear again in court on Dec. 14 in Harrison, the news release stated.
The case is being prosecuted by the Special Prosecutions Division Sex Crimes Bureau.
