CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across Cape May County. (see-town-by-town data below). According to the Cape May County Department of Health, there were 307 active cases in the county on Friday, down from the 345 reported the previous week on Oct. 15. The rate of transmission (RT) has dropped in Cape May County week-over-week, health officials said. The RT in the county is at .90 compared to .97 one week ago, according to the website covidactnow.org. An RT below 1.0 indicates that the spread of COVID-19 is decreasing, officials said. "Cape May County continues to see a decline in COVID-19 cases, and we are encouraged to see the rate of transmission decreasing," said Cape May County Commissioner Vice-Director Leonard Desiderio, co-chair of the county's Recovery Task Force. Cape May County officials provided the following breakdown of active cases by town, with active case totals from Oct. 8 in parentheses: Avalon: 5 (4) Cape May City: 5 (2) Cape May Point: 0 (0) Dennis Township: 42 (47) Lower Township: 70 (70) Middle Township: 73 (94) North Wildwood: 10 (11) Ocean City: 29 (26) Sea Isle City: 9 (14) Stone Harbor: 5 (5) Upper Township: 33 (33) West Cape May: 1 (2) West Wildwood: 0 (0) Wildwood: 13 (20) Wildwood Crest: 7 (11) Woodbine: 5 (6) The New Jersey Department of Health reports that 69,737 Cape May County residents have received at least one vaccine dose and 58,822 have been fully vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 66 percent of the county's population is fully vaccinated. The Cape May County Department of Health is providing COVID-19 vaccinations in the community weekly.
