MONROE, NJ — The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office says a Monroe township council candidate has been arrested in connection with the theft of election campaign signs. Timothy Eosso, 51, of Monroe has been charged with one count of "disorderly persons theft by unlawful taking," prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone's office announced Thursday. Eosso, a Republican, is running for the Ward 2 seat on Monroe's township council against Democrat Rupa Siegel. He told NJ.com the charge is a "complete setup." Monroe Police determined Eosso removed roadside campaign signs in the area of Applegarth Road on October 7, the news release stated. Monroe Police are still investigating, and ask anyone with information about the sign theft to call them at (731) 521-0222 extension 130.
