Here are the top stories in San Diego today: San Diego County Sheriff's Department: Homicide Investigation (Press Release Desk) San Diego officials asked for public feedback on its recently released draft Climate Resilient SD plan, intended to assist in implementing strategies of the city's Climate Action Plan. Specifically, Climate Resilient SD looks at the past, present and future conditions of San Diego's primary climate change hazards: wildfires, coastal flooding and erosion, flooding and drought, extreme heat and sea level rise. (City News Service)A former Francis Parker School student has filed a lawsuit alleging she was groomed by an ex-teacher, joining another ex-student who went public with similar claims against the private school in Linda Vista. (City News Service)San Diego County health officials are concerned this year's flu season might be more severe and asked county residents to get influenza vaccinations, it was announced. This is in spite of mask wearing, physical distancing and COVID-19 preventive measures helping to greatly reduce the number of influenza cases reported in the region last year. (City News Service) The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to support more forms of renewable energy, including wave-based, offshore wind farms and geothermal. The proposal directs county staff to research various renewable energy sources as part of a regional de-carbonization framework. (City News Service)San Diego County's Climate Action Plan won't be ready until late 2023, the Board of Supervisors was told. The plan calls for reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2035. In September 2020, supervisors voted to rescind the original CAP, first adopted in February 2018, and move forward in creating a replacement after a Superior Court judge ruled the original plan didn't comply with county or state goals for reduced emissions.
