That's exactly what the Ironman triathlon racers are doing this weekend. There is rain in the forecast, but not enough to cancel the festivities. Lorenzo Powell was out training and doing his normal run on Freeport Boulevard when he found a purse on the ground. Inside, he found $3,000 along with an address. He immediately knew he had to return the purse and the money. Sacramento Police are thanking Powell for "going above and beyond to take care of another member of our community." Police are still looking for the purse snatcher. (ABC10)Sacramento made the list of the 50 "rattiest" cities, coming in number 29 according to a study done by Orkin. (FOX40)Sacramento County has activated its severe weather respite program and is partnering with homeless advocacy groups to reach those in most need. Homeless outreach partners began issuing motel vouchers to unsheltered persons Thursday. The county acknowledges the need for more assistance to the homeless. According the Mayor Steinberg, "we are engaged in intensive discussions both inside City Hall and with partners outside City Hall to identify alternatives to provide respite this winter." (KCRA3)Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones, who said earlier this year that he will not rerun for his position, announced Thursday that he plans to retire from law enforcement after his term in office ends.
