CRANSTON, RI — Cranston's Western Hills Middle School was place on lockdown Thursday following an incident involving a parent, according to reports. The lockdown started around 8:30 a.m., WPRI reported, after a father became frustrated that he could not pick his daughter up from school due to a family court order. Police were called after the man became angry, shouting at school faculty and ripping up a copy of the court order. Assistant Principal Suzanne Coutu told Patch she was unable to comment on the incident. Police found a knife in the man's waistband, WPRI continued. Because it was larger than three inches, it was not legal to carry. Patch reached out to Superintendent Jeannine Nota Masse for comment. Read more from WPRI.
