SONOMA COUNTY, CA — At least two mud or rockslides were reported on Sonoma County roadways Friday morning after 2 inches of rain fell overnight in parts of the county.
Mud and rocks were reported on River Road at Rio Nido Road around 8:15 a.m. Friday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Around 8:45 a.m., a rockslide was reportedly blocking the westbound lane of state Highway 116 west of Bohemian Highway, according to CHP dispatchers.
Venado received 2.72 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, according to preliminary rainfall totals submitted to the National Weather Service San Franciso Bay Area. About 1.5 inches of that rain fell since 9 p.m. Thursday.
The Hawkeye Ranch Road area east of Geyserville got 1.96 inches of rain, Santa Rosa got 1.25 inches and 1.14 inches fell overnight at Petaluma Willow Creek, according to rainfall totals reported to the National Weather Service.
Elsewhere in Petaluma, .75 inches of rain was reported on Corona Road, .63 inches at the D Street Bridge, and .67 inches was reported on La Cresta Drive.
