PALM DESERT, CA — Four people suspected of burglarizing several businesses in Palm Desert were arrested Thursday following a chase that ended on Interstate 10 near Blythe.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the arrestees were: Hannah Harbison, 33, of Indio; Zackery Martinez, 25, of San Jose; Dylan James Oberdick, 39, of San Jose; and Nouman Zuhri Saleh, 36, of San Jose.
The four are suspected of stealing merchandise from several establishments along the business district corridor in Palm Desert. The alleged thefts occurred Thursday.
Witnesses reported the four were making their getaway in a white Toyota 4-Runner. Suspect and vehicle descriptions were broadcast to deputies and the Toyota was eventually spotted at Bob Hope and Gerald Ford drives.
When deputies tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off and a police chase began. The suspects drove onto eastbound I-10 and began tossing the stolen goods onto the freeway, according to the sheriff's department.
The four were finally stopped on the interstate, just west of Wiley's Well Road, in Riverside County.
All of the suspects were booked into Indio's John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of numerous counts of commercial burglary, according to the sheriff's department.
Jail records were not available for every suspect.
Over $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered, the department said.
