BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are trying to identify a man they say robbed a senior citizen Tuesday at the Jefferson Avenue Food Mart. "An elderly community member was purchasing items inside of the Jefferson Avenue Food Mart, located at 5408 Jefferson Avenue, when the suspect stole U.S. currency from the victim and began striking the victim in the back of the head with a handgun," Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham PD said. "The suspect then fled the store." The Birmingham PD posted this security photo of the suspect: Anyone who may recognize this man is asked to contact the Birmingham PD at 205-254-1753.
