COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER PROGRAM AT HOLYOKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Summary: This course is designed to prepare you for success in the Community Health Worker certification course at HCC. It is a preparation course for people who speak English as a non-native language. Course Dates: November 15th, 2021 to January 16, 2022 Class schedule details to be announced soon! We expect it to be an evening class for pre training portion but a Zoom link will be provided. The course will meet both online and in-person for the CHW portion but in-person meetings will be during the day. What is a Community Health Worker (CHW)? A Community Health Worker is someone who lives in your community who works to support your best health. CHWs meet with members of the community to help make medical appointments, figure out health insurance, teach healthy habits and chronic illness maintenance, and even assist with finding housing. Many CHWs are employed by health centers, clinics, and hospitals and are valued as essential healthcare workers who create a bridge between these facilities and the communities that they serve Who is this pre-training course open to?
