SUMMARY: Perform skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repairs and custodial support requiring a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical work. This position is expected to work with the team, both staff and volunteers, in the tasks of maintaining and cleaning the campus. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES: Well organized, good time management and ability to meet commitments and deadlines Good communication skills Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision Ability to communicate with the Executive Director regarding any maintenance related issues and needs Attention to details to ensure proper cleaning has been performed Ability to lift as much as 50-75 pounds Ability to work an average of 40 hours a week ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Work to keep our facility at the top standard both externally and internally while maintaining a safe environment • Perform maintenance / handyman requests as they arise. • Perform plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other minor repair work on the facilities as needed • Performs construction work and basic mechanical maintenance • Repairs or replaces system components (lighting heating, cooling, smoke alarms, electrical panels) • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment (HVAC filters) • Paint and repair walls, furniture, doors, windows, floors, gates, roofs, and ceilings • Maintains HVAC programmable thermostats according to the scheduled activities • Open and prepare the facility for scheduled events on specified days • Close and secure the facility per daily schedule on specific days • Assist with facility security (keep doors and windows secured, setting alarms) • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns • Arrange furniture and equipment for events • Provide custodial support by cleaning buildings and grounds as needed • Strip and wax floors as needed • Daily restroom cleaning • Clean windows • Vacuum carpeted floors • Sweep and mop tile floors • Perform basic grounds keeping (debris removal, litter pick up, minor irrigation repairs, leaf blowing,) • Keep all storage areas / rooms neat and safe HOURS: The hours for this position vary based on needs. Support on Saturdays, Sundays and special events is required. Sample schedule: Monday, Tuesday: off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:00pm to 10pm Saturday: 9:00am to 3:00pm Sunday: 8:00am to 2:00pm PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS: • Three years-work experience in a similar position including maintenance, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, painting/drywall, remodeling, construction. • Valid Arizona driver’s license and reliable transportation • High school diploma or equivalent • Trade school a plus • Background check • Able to speak fluent English
