ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Surface Miner will perform a variety of tasks involved with the extraction, crushing, conveying, processing, and packaging of limestone. He or she will operate heavy equipment during the process of extracting limestone from the quarry and may perform maintenance and repairs on the equipment, as needed. The Surface Miner may be tasked with duties relating to the milling and bagging of pulverized limestone rock dust. He or she will also be required to perform general labor duties, i.e. sweeping, shoveling, and general clean-up of area and/or equipment, as well as assist with general quarry maintenance activities, i.e. changing screens, changing crusher liners, maintaining roadways, etc. You must be capable of working outside in all weather conditions and at elevated areas. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy, as he/she will assist the Quarry Superintendent with general computer/office tasks. QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent • Computer savvy with familiarity of MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel • Experience operating equipment, including excavator and front-end loader • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time, work on their feet for 8+ hours per day in an environment with regular exposure to weather and potentially dusty conditions • Experience in construction or aggregates industry a plus • Motivated and quick learner • Able to work effectively within a team • Participate in meetings and training as directed • Safety, Quality and Efficiency of utmost importance
