Therapeutic Performing Arts for the Community - A Round Table Discussion Presented by WPKN 89.5 FM ALL AGES MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THIS EVENT Joseph Celli, WPKN radio producer of Soundprint: Asia will interview Professor Matthew Isaac Cohen, Puppet Arts, University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts Dramatic Arts, Ethnomusicologist of Kazakhstan Music Saida Daukeyeva, Associate Professor of Music, Wesleyan University, and Adjunct Professors of Music, Wesleyan University B. Balasubrahmaniyan and Jin Hi Kim. The panelists will examine the rites, ritual drama, and shamanistic songs in various Asian cultures for the therapeutic, healing and unifying force of ritual performance for their communities. With the escalating bias and racism in American culture towards Asians it is expected the panel will illuminate important contributions that Asians have historically made in times of crisis and for healing.
