Description

The University of Kansas School of Business presents the Walter S. Sutton Lecture Series featuring Cynthia Cooper. Cooper is a best-selling author and consultant who began her career in public accounting, working for Deloitte & Touche (now Deloitte) and Pricewaterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). She served as vice president of internal audit at WorldCom and, in 2002, led the company’s internal audit unit that found more than $3.8 billion in fraudulent accounting entries. As vice president, Cooper and her team went on to help the company, which became MCI, move forward and successfully emerge from bankruptcy. Cooper will share her personal experiences at WorldCom as well as critical lessons learned, including practical steps organizations can take to prevent and detect fraud and how to recognize ethical dilemmas. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend University of Kansas sponsored events. If you require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this event, please contact Kendyl Grender by Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at [email protected] or 785-864-7369. The mission of the University of Kansas School of Business is to advance and impart business knowledge and prepare students to be leaders who positively contribute to business and society.
