Description

URGENT! URGENT! URGENT! Ralph needs a foster or adoptive home this week. He has been in a foster home for the past 4 months but his foster can no longer keep him and is leaving to go out of the country next week. Ralph is overwhelmed in a situation with a lot of dogs and will not do well in a boarding environment. Ralph is a 3.5 yr old foxhound. He's housebroken, gets along well with the two coonhounds at his foster home, likes to snuggle, play with his toys, and sniff around in his fenced yard. He sleeps well at night is is not barky or destructive. He is unknown around cats, but will probably chase. Ralph will be a great companion for a dog-experienced owner who can give him some structure and be patient during his transition to a new home. Ralph was a stray dog in Virginia for several years where the neighbors fed him - but he was out on his own. He's a bit anxious in new situations and will guard his food around other dogs. This is very manageable by feeding dogs seperately and not leaving chew treats on the floor. He is not food aggressive around people. His behavior is manageable and he can be a great hound companion. Kennel boarding and hopping from one foster home to another is not going to help Ralph's behavior and his life is quite frankly, in danger. Some shelters and rescues will label a dog like Ralph 'unadoptable' and take him into the back room rather than putting him on the adoption floor. We believe that there is someone out there for Ralph who can give him the happy, safe life that he deserves. If you are that person, please step forward and help Ralph.
