RUN4REY is the inaugural charity event to raise funds for the Dr. Rey Inocente Monzon Scholarship Fund Dr. Reynaldo Inocente Monzon, or Dr. Rey as he was commonly referred to by students, was a well-known community intellectual practitioner. He stood amongst the "heroes" of Filipino American role models. Dr. Rey exemplified the humbled nature of a community leader. Rey was influential as a mentor to many undergraduates, advisor to aspiring doctoral candidates, colleague to future educators, friend to organizers, and influencer of uplifting the voice for Filipinos in San Diego. His recent loss to COVID-19 leaves a deep wound. Dr. Monzon was an avid marathoner. RUN4REY builds upon his legacy for the community in establishing a scholarship at his alma mater.
