A 15-hour course in the strategies of optimal recovery. Learn how to do more when you prioritize the right recovery! Experience-based and backed by science!This is a hands-on course in the most effective recovery strategies. From sleep optimization, meditation, and breathing practice to physical activity and objective monitoring, this course will give you in-depth applicable skills and knowledge to help boost your own recovery or help your athletes recover faster. Additionally, this course is a mini-certification in the basic techniques of manual sports therapy and massage to provide instant soreness relief and create an “open window” for enhanced recovery. Here are some of the topics we will cover:The physiology of muscle, ligament, and tendon recoveryWhy the brain needs recovery and why you should careCold therapyHot therapyEpsom salts and other sense-stimulating strategiesScience-backed manual techniques for hands-on recovery workCombination therapiesMeditation and breathingSimple yoga techniques to enhance focus that anyone can do the first time they try themRecovery workouts - is there such a thing?Can special recovery clothing help with muscle damageFoam rolling - does it really work?Inflatable compression “legs” and other gadgetsHow to use your heart rate to gauge your recoveryWhy we sleep - and the mechanisms of mental and physical recoverySustenance and supplements to enhance recoveryThis course is both practical and theoretical switching back and forth between the two. We will cover the physiology of recovery and dissect different techniques to help understand what they do and what they don't. Be prepared to get hands-on with cold and hot therapy, learn what a recovery workout is, and how you can use your heart rate over time to gauge your level of recovery. We will go through simple meditation and breathing techniques and get into both sleep and sustenance for optimized recovery. Finally, we will put it all together in the "Recovery hierarchy". Practicalities The course is from 9 am to 4.30 pm Saturday and Sunday. you will need to bring clothes suited for both light activities, and sitting still when we talk about theory. If we are able to do cold/hot therapy (cryo or ice/sauna) you also need to bring a towel and swimsuit. If you are the kind of person that likes to snack during the day, please bring what you need. We will break for lunch around midday for 1hour (at own expense).
