The City of Providence will hold a Prescription Drug-Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021! Walgreens -533 Elmwood Ave Providence RI The City of Providence and Community Partners will hold a Prescription Drug-Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021! We need your help and your participation. Abuse of prescription drugs is a dangerous and an increasing problem, in part because these drugs are common in every home. Most people do not think of prescription drugs as being abused by children, but statistics show that children who abuse prescription drugs mostly find them in their own homes. Drug overdoses are now a leading cause of accidental death in Rhode Island, with more people dying annually from overdoses than from murder, arson and car accidents combined. The Mayor’s Coalition on Behavioral Health is working with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Providence Police Department and Walgreens Pharmacy to combat this problem. On Saturday, October 23rd from 10AM to 2PM, anyone can turn in old or unused prescription/non-prescription drugs, with no questions asked. Medication will be collected and destroyed properly. Drop-off locations in Providence include: • Walgreens - 533 Elmwood Ave Providence RI 02907 • Walgreens - 295 Academy Ave Providence RI 02908 • Walgreens - 333 Atwells Ave Providence RI 02903 • Providence Police Department - 325 Washington Street Providence RI 02903
